Caring for yourself too
While we have already told you how to take care of your car, now it is time for some self help
We go through the four seasons year after year, without really preparing for anything. Don’t you think we need to change our attitudes and j ust for once prepare ourselves for what is coming our way? Summer has set in and there are so many things we can do to make life easier for ourselves .
We have compiled a list of things we need to remember in order to tackle the summer in all its ferocity. Some of them obvious, others not so, but each is as helpful as the one next to it.
Follow these, and we are sure, that you will have less reasons to scowl this summer. Your journeys too will be slightly more pleasant than before.
Since 2020 has been such an exceptional year so far, chances are that you too have had your motorcycle parked for the better part of two months. Hopefully, you’ve managed to get it started every now and then
On the side of your gearbox, most motorcycles will have a small circular glass window about the size of a coin. This shows you how much engine oil you have in the motorcycle and the condition of the oil itself. To check this accurately ensure the bike is standing upright (ie NOT on the main stand) and you have a perpendicular line of sight into the measure. Ideally, your oil should not have discoloured or dropped below the centre of the measure. If so it’s probably time for a top up or change depending on how old the engine oil is.
Harsh sun can have an adverse effect on paint and plastics. To ensure that your bike stays protected. First wash the bike, preferably with a pressure washer.
Ensure to clean the fins of the engine (on air cooled bikes) and the radiator grille (oil and liquid cooled motorcycles) and then go over the paint and plastic bits with a coat of UV-rated polish.
