Hyundai Kona EV
Well like so many other things in the world today and like so many other cars, the mileage we have been able to log on to the Kona Electric is zero. I was worried that the Kona would have lost charge after over a month of being parked in office after being charged. However to my pleasant surprise, the battery level still showed full and the car looked no worse for having being parked for so long. Everything came to life at the touch of a button and I drove home in the car, all of 7.6km. So the car has logged on some mileage after all.
I was initially a sceptic about the future of electric cars in our country but the Kona has softened my stance. An electric car with range like that of the Kona will work well in a lot of scenarios and especially well if it is going to be used for the daily commute to office – no matter how long that drive is – and there is an electricity socket available at either home or office to charge the car. I at times needed to charge the car just once a week and that included not just the office commute but also all the weekend driving for visits to friends, family and the markets. We even made a couple of outstation trips in the car and with two people on board it is never a problem on how much baggage to carry. One must realise though that the Kona is not a huge SUV but is just slightly bigger than the Venue in dimensions and the boot is correspondingly small.
I WAS INITIALLY A SCEPTIC ABOUT THE FUTURE OF ELECTRIC CARS IN OUR COUNTRY BUT THE KONA HAS SOFTENED MY STANCE
