S-Class of SUVs is finally here

ADDING LUXURY to its flagship product, Mercedes-Benz India launched the all new GLS in two variants, GLS 450 and GLS 400 d, both for an introducto­ry price of Rs 99.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new GLS is the largest and most luxurious SUV from the German automaker and offers more space, comfort, tech, and luxury than before. The third-gen GLS gets a new front fascia with an imposing grille and new multi-beam LED headlamps with a fresh set of 3D LED taillamps. The SUV comes with a standard 21in alloys. Inside, you get 5-zone air conditioni­ng, 12.3-inch high definition instrument, 12.3-inch touchscree­n infotainme­nt system with the latest MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), electrical­ly-controlled seats and panoramic sunroof. With the second and third rows folded down, the GLS boasts of an enormous 2,400-litre of boot space. The SUV has a considerab­ly longer wheelbase over its predecesso­r at 3,135mm, an increase of 60mm that adds 87mm in the cabin for the second row. Power comes from a BS6-compliant, in-line 6-cylinder, 3.0-litre petrol engine with 48-volt hybrid technology. The motor develops 367bhp and 500Nm, with additional 22bhp and 250Nm of torque through the EQ Boost. The 9-speed automatic transmissi­on sends power to all the four wheels. The new GLS 400 d generates 330bhp and 700Nm of maximum torque from its diesel counterpar­t. The motor is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmissi­on.
