Civic diesel is now BS6 compliant

-

MAKING A transition to the cleaner fuel norms is the 2020 Honda Civic as the company introduced the BS6 diesel version to the 10th generation sedan at a starting price of Rs 20.74 lakh (VX MT) and Rs 22.34 lakh (ZX MT) (both prices ex showroom, India). The petrol variant of the Civic has been BS6 compliant since its launch in March last year.

The BS6 Civic diesel is powered by a 1.6litre i-DTEC turbo unit, which is essentially the same engine that was on offer with the BS4 Honda Civic diesel. Although the motor has now been updated to meet the BS6 emission norms, its power is rated at 118bhp and peak torque is 300Nm. The mill is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, with no automatic transmission on offer. Honda Cars India claims that the BS6 Civic diesel delivers a mileage of 23.9kmpl.

On the other hand, the Civic petrol engine is BS6 compliant since its arrival in the country, and is a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol unit that generates 138bhp and 174Nm and is offered with a sole CVT automatic. The Civic petrol is available in V, VX and ZX trims. Prices vary between Rs 17.94 lakh and Rs 21.25 lakh (ex showroom, India).
