Hyundai Venue

-

No, I haven’t been playing long term musical chairs this month, but this was one of those months I was lucky enough to be shuffled between two really fun Hyundais’. One of them was electric, the other though was our trusty Hyundai Venue. Now I know they aren’t really pitted against each other metrically, but objectively they are still two 4 meter-ish SUVs that are built for the urban jungle. Moving from the Kona back to the Venue, I was prepared to be dissapointed by its performance, but instead I was reminded why I will never get over combustion motors. Where the Kona’s performance is clinical, the only drama in it is the wheels screaming for adhesion under all those low end torques. The Venue on the other hand is a sensation. Put your foot down and the DCT sends the revs shooting for the sky in anticipation of a downshift, there’s a wonderful mechanical clunk as the downshift happens, and then the inevitable push back as the Turbo shoves copious amounts of compressed gas into the motor as the Venue shoots forward. Sure it may not be as fast as the Kona or as well balanced, but it’s just as exciting if not more. The kicker is that while the Venue is still a conventional Internal Combustion Engine, it also represents the future of it’s kind, a downsized motor with forced induction that burns cleaner and more efficiently while still able to pack a punch. Sure, I’ll miss the roar of a NA motor forcing its way through the rev band, but not at the cost of having to give up ICEs all together. As a flag bearer for the future of ICEs, the Venue is a model citizen in every way possible, a reminder that internal combustion engines still have their ways to go!

I WAS REMINDED WHY I WILL NEVER GET OVER COMBUSTION MOTORS
