Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

- Pratik Rakshit Correspondent

We’ve had the mini SUV with us since January of this year, and to be honest it has become an integral part of the Auto Today family. Two past and present Auto Today members have had mixed reactions to the exterior of the S-Presso but after spending considerable amount of time behind the wheel, they’ve acknowledged that the driving experience is the biggest solace when it comes to living with it.

Now, over the past months, we’ve spoken extensively about the features, both exterior, interior, the features on offer and also the way it drives. We’ve also dwelled upon the different body kits or packages that Maruti Suzuki offers to make the S-Presso the perfect car to own. This time around, we would like to write about the HEARTECT platform that also underpins a number of other new generation Maruti cars such as the WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Ignis, Baleno, Ertiga and it’s premium sibling, the XL6. The platform not only brings structural rigidity benefits that helps the S-Presso meet the crash test norms, but also makes the car light. Built with advanced and high tensile steel, the platform has a smooth continuous design for better impact absorption in case of a collision. At the same time, it offers better stability and control for enhanced driving performance and fuel efficiency. Weighing between 726kg and 763kg, depending on the variant, the base S-Presso is marginally lighter than the entry-level 800cc Alto, and a good 44kg less than the Alto K10.
