New Mercedes S-Class debuts

-

THE NEW Mercedes-Benz S-Class made its world premiere in September. The design is that of a classical saloon; short front overhang, a long wheelbase and a balanced rear overhang. It gets a beefy look through the wide track and flush-mounted wheels. The front section looks impressive with its high-status radiator grille. At the rear, the two exhaust tailpipes and two-section rear lights get chrome elements. The dashboard has been redesigned with an ergonomic display arrangement. The second-generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) also debuts in the new S-Class. There is a large central display with a standard 11.9inch screen and a 12.8-inch one available optionally. The driver display is a standard 12.3-inch fully digital unit. The S-Class will be available with six-cylinder in-line petrol and diesel engines in various outputs fitted with a 3.0-litre unit. A V8 with a 48V mildhybrid system and a plug-in hybrid variant will be added later. All variants will have a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
