New Rolls-Royce Ghost breaks cover
HAVING BEEN on sale for over a decade and after becoming the best-selling model in the brand’s 116-year old history, it’s time for the first-generation Rolls-Royce Ghost to bow out. Replaced by the all-new secondgeneration Ghost, the company has started accepting orders across the globe including India where it starts from
Rs 6.95 crore (ex-showroom). Unlike the earlier Ghost that shared its platform with the fifth-generation F01 BMW
7 Series, the new Ghost is based on Rolls-Royce’s own aluminium spaceframe architecture which also underpins the Phantom VIII and the Cullinan. Compared to its predecessor, the Ghost, at 5,546mm, is 89mm longer and 30mm wider now measuring 1,978mm. Powering the new Ghost is Rolls-Royce’s hallmark 6.75-litre V12 petrol motor developing 563bhp and 850Nm. Despite weighing close to 2.5 tonnes, the Ghost can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.8 seconds and hit a restricted top speed of 250kmph.
