Volvo’s first electric XC40
VOLVO’S ELECTRIFICATION programme introduces a plug-in petrol-electric hybrid powertrain for the Volvo XC40. Additionally, two new mild-hybrid options have been added to the range as well. Volvo will first launch the new XC40 Recharge Pure Electric P8 in the UK early next year. The XC40 plug-in hybrid system combines a 129bhp, 1.5-litre petrol engine, an 82bhp electric motor, and a 10.7kWh lithium-ion battery to deliver electric range of 44km. The powertrain promises 408bhp and 660Nm, with a combined driving range of 400km.
