Z650 and Versys 1000 updated

-

KAWASAKI SEEMS intent i t t on making ki it its entire ti 2021 range available for India at the earliest, and joining the new Z H2 are the Versys 1000 and the Z650 with a price tag of Rs 11.19 lakh and Rs 6.04 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively. While the Versys 1000 is officially a new model year motorcycle there aren’t any changes to the Versys 1000, mechanically or otherwise. On the other hand, the middleweight naked gets some presence in the form of loud neon green rims that accent the existing Metallic Black Spark paint job.

At the center of the Versys 1000 is the same 1,043cc in-line four motor that is rated to 118.2bhp and 102Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox that gets a slipper clutch. It also gets the extensive electronics suite that includes a five-axis Bosch IMU system, cruise control, two power modes, cornering ABS, traction control as well as three riding modes. The nifty auto-adjust flyscreen is an added bonus to its road touring credibility. The Versys 1000 also gets the full LED treatment, but the same 21-litre fuel tank, along with an extensive electronics package that includes Kawasaki Cornering Management Functions (KCMF), Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), and Kawasaki Intelligent antilock Brake System (KIBS).

The Z holds true to the family, carrying forward the same ‘Sugomi’ styling that sets the Kawasaki Zs apart from a clutch of middleweight roadsters. The rims are as far as cosmetic changes go, and there are no mechanical changes. The 649cc, inline two-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine produces 67.3bhp and 64Nm and pairs with a 6-speed transmission. The Z650 continues to get allLED headlamps, tail lamps and indicators, a split seat and an exhaust that is routed to the underbelly of the bike. You also get Kawasaki’s new 4.3inch TFT screen that gets a mobile connectivity suite with Bluetooth.
