Hyundai’s 7-seater SUV revealed in sketches

-

HYUNDAI MOTOR INDIA revealed the upcoming 6/7-seater Hyundai Alcazar SUV in new design sketches. Based on the popular Creta, the Alcazar showcases the ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language of the automaker. Although Hyundai has not given us a glimpse of the Alcazar’s front, we are expecting it to be inspired by that of the Creta, boasting of features like the automaker’s signature cascading grille, and LED headlamps with LED DRLs. However, the Alcazar gets a different set of alloy wheels and redesigned LED tail lamps. It also has a longer rear overhang to accommodate the third-row of seats. The cabin is based on a wing-surrounded architecture and the automaker claims that there is “ample room for second and third row passengers”. The Alcazar will be offered in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The 6-seater version will have captain seats in the middle row. Among the comfort features inside the cabin will be ventilated seats, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control, multifunction steering wheel, ambient lighting, wireless charger and panoramic sunroof.

The Alcazar will reportedly have the same engine and transmission options that we find in the Creta, these include 1.4-litre Kappa Turbo-GDi petrol with 140bhp and 242Nm, coupled to a 7-speed DCT automatic, a 1.5-litre MPi petrol with 115bhp and 144Nm, mated to a 6-speed MT/IVT automatic and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel developing 115bhp and 250Nm, paired to 6-speed MT/6-speed AT. Following its launch, the Alcazar will rival the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV500.
