Royal Enfield Meteor 350

- Ashok Sharma Auto Today ashok.sharma@intoday.com

Ever since I heard that the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has joined the Auto Today long term fleet, I’ve had my eyes on it. While Rahul was happy riding it around, I couldn’t resist myself from asking him to let me experience this new generation Royal Enfield. Another strong reason for my affection is the fact that I have always liked the Thunderbird and that the Meteor replaces the Thunderbird got me even more interested. I love the way the bike is designed and most importantly that the company has not done something radical with it. The two-tone paint job, chrome here and there and alloy wheels are just to my taste. I also love the new instrument panel and the switchgear. The new Tripper navigation system comes as a boon to someone like me who has a very bad sense of direction. Every time I rode my bike, I had to stop and refer to the maps on my phone. Now life is truly sorted with the new system. After downloading the app, I have been able to use the navigation system to the fullest. Sure it took me a day or two to get comfortable with the system, but now I am well aware of the commands and find them easy to refer to and use on the go helping me reach my destination with ease. The fuel tank of the bike is also something I love. Not just the design but the ergonomics as well. The tank can also hold up to 15 litres of fuel and with an average mileage of roughly 35kmpl, long rides can be undertaken without the need for a refill. I love the way the Meteor handles and especially the agility. The low seat height and the rider’s triangle just make it so comfortable.
