New Skoda Fabia breaks cover
AFTER A long teaser campaign, it’s finally here. Skoda unleashed the fourth iteration of the Fabia hatchback and quite frankly, it’s an understatement to say that this generational update is ‘big’. Not only is the new Fabia bigger and bolder in design, but it also gets more tech and is a lot safer than before. For this generation, the Fabia is built around the VW Group’s MQB-A0 platform, resulting in a dimensionally larger car. It is both longer and wider than the previous generation, and gets a slightly longer wheelbase as well.
The design itself has changed a lot in line Skoda’s latest generation of family design language. The new butterfly grille is flanked by new LED healdights. At the back, LED tail-lamps with the Skoda crystalline design adds to the presence along with a sporty roof mounted spoiler. Globally, the Fabia will be offered with the same three engine option from the Polo. This includes a 1.0-litre MPI, 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre motor. Expect Skoda India to use the locally manufactured 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine.
