MERCEDES-BENZ EQC

-

For the well-heeled environmentally conscious buyers looking to flaunt their green credentials, India’s best-selling luxury carmaker currently sells the EQC all-electric SUV. Built essentially on the same MHA platform that underpins the GLC, modified for the battery pack and electric powertrain, the EQC shares its wheelbase with the GLC but the resemblance is just fleeting. The 80kWh lithium ion battery pack runs two motors, one on each axle. The EQC boats a combined power output of 408bhp and peak torque of 760Nm. While the front motor has been configured for efficiency, the rear motor is for dynamism and both of them operate at the same time giving the vehicle AWD capability. While claimed range is upwards of 400km as per the European test cycle, realistically, the EQC is likely to run around 350km on a single charge. Typically, the company claims that from a regular wall outlet, the car would take over 20 hours to charge fully from 10 per cent. If charged through a company-provided wall box, it can be charged in 10

hours while a 50kwh DC fast charger can do it in 90 minutes.
