BMW 2 Series Coupe packs in more punch
THE SECOND-GENERATION BMW 2 Series is here in rear-wheel-drive 230i and all-wheeldrive M240i xDrive models. At launch, BMW will offer the 230i with a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit making 255bhp and 400Nm of torque with a claimed 5.5-second run to 100kmph, and a top speed limited to either 209kmph or 250kmph depending on tires. The M240i xDrive will use BMW’s turbocharged 3.0-litre unit that produces 382bhp and 500Nm paired with an all-wheel-drive system and BMW’s electronically controlled rear differential. BMW claims a 0-100kmph time of 4.1 seconds. An 8-speed automatic gearbox will be the only option for now.
The 2022 version also grows in size and is now 109mm longer, 66mm wider, and wheelbase is stretched by 51mm than its predecessor. The front and rear track widths have also increased, by 71mm at the front and 48mm at the rear on the 230i and by 63mm at the front and 61mm at the rear for the more powerful M240i model. They’ll go on sale in the U.S. in November.
