HONDA LAUNCHED the updated Gold Wing at a starting price of Rs 37.20 lakh for the manual transmission variant, while the range topping Gold Wing with Honda’s signature DCT gearbox and the new airbag tech will set you back by Rs 39.16 lakh (all prices exshowroom, India). Honda assures the new bike takes a whole step forward from the old machine, not just in terms of dynamics and accessibility, but more crucially in terms of safety. Power comes from a 1,833cc liquidcooled 4-stroke 24-valve SOHC flat-6 engine that produces 126bhp @5,500rpm and 170Nm @4,500rpm. The 6-speed manual gearbox is fitted with a ‘cam damper’ between the clutch and transmission, separating each inertial mass, reducing noise and improving shift quality/durability. The Throttle By Wire (TBW) engine management adds four riding modes- Tour, Sport, Econ & Rain. Also on offer is the 7-speed DCT with clutch feel, shift speed and rpm range of up/downshifts tailored specifically to each riding mode. The Gold Wing Tour is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth’s connectivity is also available and there are two USB Type-C ports to plug into.
