Jeep working on hybrid Compass
WE HAVE our first undisguised, albeit a tiny piece of camouflage on the badge, on the Jeep Compass Mild-Hybrid (mHEV) while on a trailer in Detroit. Unlike the Compass 4xe, this model features only one fuel door on the passenger side. We expect the 1.3-litre to be the prime engine choice for the mild-hybrid Compass.
Power should be paired to a Getrag 7-speed, dual-clutch, mild-hybrid transmission, but could also be an updated version of Getrag’s 7-DCT 300 transmission. This transmission is expected to have an integrated electric motor capable of 15 to 25kW of power on a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with the possibility of running up to 130kmph on just electric power alone. Expect an official debut by the end of the year.
