Tata’s latest EV for the masses
TATA MOTORS launched its much-awaited Tigor EV at Rs 11.99 lakh (XE), Rs 12.49 lakh (XM), and Rs 12.99 lakh (XZ+), as well as XZ+ in dual tone for Rs 13.14 lakh (all prices exshowroom, India). The Tigor EV is the second BEV to utilise the ZipTron technology, joining the Tata Nexon EV in the brand’s electric portfolio. The Tigor EV, like the Nexon EV, is based on its ICE-powered version, with subtle cosmetic tweaks. The major changes include new body-coloured panel up front with a tri-arrow pattern, and a blue slat. The Tigor EV badge finds place upfront. Also available are projector headlights, fog lamps accompanied by LED DRLs, wheel covers with more blue accents, and blue highlights on the rear bumper. The overall appeal of the cabin remains similar to the standard version, except a few updates. First off, the dashboard has blue accents splashed across to complement the exterior. Seat upholstery and instrument panel are unique to this all-electric variant as well. It also features a Harman sourced 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs and more. Additionally the electric sedan also features Tata’s iRA connected car tech along with 30+ connected car features including remote commands and remote diagnostics. Safety-wise, the EV comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, optional rear parking camera, and seat belt reminder among other features.
The Tigor EV delivers 75bhp and 170Nm. It does the 0-60kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds, courtesy its 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The battery pack has got an IP 67 rating while the motor is built to withstand any weather as it comes with an 8-year or 1,60,000km battery and motor warranty.
