We finally have the Honda H’ness CB 350 in the Auto Today fleet, and while we’ve been impressed with Honda’s retromotorcycle challenger on first impressions, it’s finally time to put it through the rigours of everyday use. Over the course of this long term review, we’ll put the H’ness on test not only in the city but out on the highway where standard classics like these thrive. This month we’ve put a few kilometres on the H’ness and already there is so much to like. It’s a relatively no-nonsense motorcycle with conventional telescopic forks up front and dual shocks at the back paired with a 19-inch wheel up front and an 18-inch wheel at the back. The cradle frame chassis houses the 349cc long-stroke engine which churns out 21bhp and 30Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The H’ness also has the advantage of being much lighter than the competition weighing in at 181kg. Another thing that stands out is the build quality, everything from switchgear right down to the weld seams on the chassis reflect on a built to last motorcycle. On paper, the H’ness has all the ingredients that make for a retro-classic winner, but we know by experience that there is so much more to classic motorcycles than just what’s visible on paper. In the course of our test, we’ll put our experience to test to see if the H’ness has that
to turn the tides of India’s thriving classic motorcycle segment. Aside from bringing you monthly updates on fuel efficiency, service cost and a holistic ownership experience. We will also focus on the ride experience and riding comfort that the motorcycle affords in detail.
