Now, Android app for cashew cultivation
Rea li sing the current needs of information dissemination via smart phones, ICAR’s Directorate of Cashew Research (DCR) at Puttur in Karnataka has developed state-of-the-art Android app for use in cashew cultivation and related aspects. The app is expected to speed up the process of information exchange among the stakeholders in India leading to increased production and productivity. The app gives comprehensive information on cashew nursery, cultivation, plant protection, postharvest processing, market information, e-market, various stakeholders such as farmers, researchers, developmental agencies and processors at one place.
It is developed i n 11 languages for 10 cashew growing states in India. A farmer/user can upload and store his own cashew images and videos in ‘ My cashew’ sub-section. It is also possible to record the expenditure, observations and data of the cashew farm.
Real time chatting is s possible in the ‘ Chat Room’ m’ with the users. An e-speak k button enables the app to read text for you in different nt sections. The app is developed by Dr
Mo Mohana G.S. and his team at the ICAR-Directorate of Ca Cashew Research, with the in inputs from centers of All In India Coordinated Research Pr Project on Cashew in different st states of the country. The a app is developed under the p program on Mission for I Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Financial support was provided through the Directorate of Cashew and Cocoa Development, Kochi.
