Ahmedabad DCCB is organizing street plays (Nukkad Natak) in 2 villages per day, spreading informatio­n and awareness about digital banking, cash-less transactio­ns, crop insurance and other related topics. The bank’s Chairman Ajaybhai Patel says more than 15,000 members of milk producers’ cooperativ­e societies have been covered under financial literacy camps by the bank’s rural branches. They were given financial planning diary with related messages and slogans. The bank has conducted financial literacy awareness camps in schools covering more than 12,000 students. The bank provides 2 notebooks to each student carrying messages on importance of banking, digital banking, etc. Every year Financial Literacy Week is celebrated as per RBI directives during first week of June, where audiovisua­l messages are spread in rural areas.”

PACS members and governing bodies are educated time to time on various banking services including digital banking. The bank has establishe­d at block (taluka) level 13 Financial Literacy Centers ( FLC), well equi pped with audio-visual aids for conducting training and workshops. Such financial literacy awareness programs are conducted round the year. NABARD-sponsored financial literacy programs for target specific groups of farmers, small entreprene­urs, school students, SHGs, senior citizens and others are also conducted to bring awareness about digital financial umbrella and other government initiative­s. Patel says the bank is constantly striving to fulfill the national goal of financial inclusion through literacy initiative­s for weaker/marginal social sections of the society. The bank promotes PMJDY, kisan credit, crop insurance and digital banking through camps as well as programs under a program, ‘Seven Steps to Increase Farmers’ Income’.
