New EDs at RBI
The Reserve Bank has appointed Sitikantha Pattanaik and Rajiv Ranjan as Executive Directors. Rajiv will also serve as an ex-officio member of the Monetary Policy Committee. Prior to their appointments as EDs, Sitikantha was an Adviser in the Department of Economic and Policy Research, while Rajiv was serving as Adviser-in-Charge of Monetary Policy Department and Secretary to the MPC. Sitikantha will look after the Department of Economic and Policy Research, while Rajiv will take care of the Monetary Policy Department. Rajiv has a PhD in economics from Mumbai University and holds a Master’s degree in economics from the Delhi School of Economics. Sitikantha has a PhD in economics from the University of Mumbai.
Key position for Swati Dhingra in Bank of England
Dr Swati Dhingra has been named as the first Indian-origin woman to be appointed as an external member of the Bank of England’s interest rate-setting committee. Swati is an Associate Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics, having specialisation in international economics and applied microeconomics. She had studied at the University of Delhi and got her Masters from the Delhi School of Economics. She will have a 3-year term at the Bank of England.
