Can you tell about your journey so far with CRIF High Mark?

CRIF High Mark was earlier known as High Mark Credit Information Services and I have been associated with it since inception in 2007. I started as a system admin/ developer/ DBA/ Sharepoint Admin/ Network Admin. I was the seventh employee in the company. We were the last among the credit bureaus currently in India to get a license. The operations started in November 2010 when we got a license and in March 2011 we launched our business operations. It has been an amazing experience where every day there is a continuous learning process which still continues as it is required in any technology shop. Today, I have a team of more than 150 people in the technology department, with some of them having experience in very niche technology.

Can you share your experience in making use of the Tier4 data center of CtrlS?

We have been associated with CtrlS since 2014. Data security\information security is one of most important requirements for any data driven organization. We took good 6 months for our due diligence before we finalized to move our then DC to CtrlS. The best part of CtrlS is the design of the facility. Very minute things have been given extreme thought while designing. As a continual improvement and part of compliance, we do audit of CtrlS for the services it provides, and we have been seeing continual improvement happening.

How are you leveraging the facilities at the data center to meet your realtime processing requirements? What levels of RPO/RTO have you been able to achieve?

We have a defined RTO\RPO, which is agreed mutually between CRIF and CtrlS and this is being achieved. The DR service is on private cloud provided by CtrlS.

What is the extent of virtualization you have been able to achieve? Can you describe the server setup at the data center?

We have a mixed infrastructure of some virtualized and some physical depending on the application being used. We use VmWare for virtualization. Virtualization helped us reduce the footprint in the DC.

What is the approximate volume of data of CRIF High Mark that CtrlS holds?

This can be answered in 2 ways. The total storage in CRIF High Mark is approximately a Petabyte while the production database specifically may be having approximately 55 TB of data in a single instance.

Do you deal with CtrlS directly or is it through your system integrator? Do you have a CISO?

We deal with CtrlS directly and we do have a CISO.

Can you briefly outline the advantages you have with regard to the security setup at the data center?

Being a Tier4 certified and ISO 27001 certified data center, there are definite advantages. As I mentioned earlier, every security parameter has been thought about while designing the DC. CtrlS has helped us to design our network and server architecture from the logical security perspective. We have also started using the SOC services from CtrlS.

Do you make use of the facility of DR on demand service offered by CtrlS? Or do you maintain your own DR site? Is there a Near Site?

We have taken DR as a service from CtrlS. It is a private cloud and CtrlS team in collaboration with my team manage the DR. We do not have a Near DR site as of now.
