Pak­istan cen­tral bank says no plan for new notes

Re­ports about pos­si­ble change in cur­rency notes in Pak­istan have been de­nied by the State Bank of Pak­istan. There have been re­ports that coun­try is chang­ing its cur­rency notes. The reg­u­la­tor said there are no plans to change the ban­knotes in the coun­try. In a state­ment, it said the de­signs and im­ages of pro­posed cur­rency notes, which have been cir­cu­lat­ing on so­cial me­dia, were fake. So­cial me­dia had car­ried re­ports sug­gest­ing that the newly ap­pointed fi­nance min­is­ter Asad Umar had de­cided to dis­con­tinue Rs 5000 ban­knotes. The new govern­ment was also re­ported to be keen to change ban­knotes worth Rs 50 to Rs 1000.
