New governor of Brazil central bank
Economist Roberto Campos Neto will be the next governor of Central Bank of Brazil. He will assume office under the government of President Jair Bolsonaro. At present, he is treasury director for the Americas at Banco Santander. He replaces Ilan Goldfajn. The appointment needs to be approved by Congress. Campos Neto has spent most of the past 18 years at Santander’s local unit. Goldfajn has run the central bank since 2016.
