Canada has a vertical $10 note
The Bank of Canada has issued the new vertical $10 bank note featuring the portrait of social justice icon Viola Desmond. The new note is expected to gradually enter into circulation alongside existing $10 notes. Bank of Canada Governor Stephen S. Poloz said bank notes are not only a secure means of payment that Canadians can use with confidence. They also tell the stories that have shaped the country. The new $10 note, Canada’s first vertical bank note, features enhanced security features that are easy to check and difficult to counterfeit. Among these are a color-shifting eagle feather, which changes from gold to green and raised ink on the portrait, the word ‘Canada’ and the large number at the bottom.
