The new MSX125 is a crazy little machine for some fun on the streets

-

IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE WE witnessed a mini bike that could set your pulse racing and pump up your adrenaline. However, recently Honda unveiled a crazy little machine that can do exactly that while making you look cool.

Honda first introduced a mini bike in 1961, called the Z100, which was later followed by the Z50 and, in 1969, the company launched a series of mini bikes in the ST-Series. These bikes were very popular during the 1970s and 80s, but the trend started to change and bigger and more powerful bikes started becoming more popular.

However, it seems that Honda want to revive the old ‘Monkey Bike’ genre and that is the apparent reason for the unveiling of the MSX125. According to today’s standards, the MSX125 is a true blue ‘Monkey Bike’ featuring a small, 125-cc, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that is fuel-injected and is mated to a four-speed gearbox. However, that does not keep you from having good fun as the MSX125 develops about 10 PS of power and 10.2 Nm of torque and weighs just 101 kilos.

The bike’s design is quite simple and minimalistic and there isn’t anything that looks out of proportion. The main elements that stand out in the overall design are the fat tyres and the beefy front forks. The 12-inch wheels with wide rubber on them appear quite intimidating. However, the overall design is quite desirable.

Honda will launch the bike in the second quarter of 2013, initially in Thailand and later on in other parts of the world. Will it come to India? Well, apparently it’s very hard to promise our reader anything just now, though we think that it will really be a great product for India and HMSI should consider the MSX125 to India. Until then we can only drool over this gorgeous little piece of fun.
