Ducati Globetrotters Return Home
Seven riders and 30,000 km translate into one awesome birthday celebration
GLOBETROTTING IS THE ULTIMATE DREAM FOR A biker because it allows them to see the world astride the thing they love the most: their motorcycle. It seems Ducati, too, had the same idea when they decided to celebrate 90 years of their existence in a unique way. ‘Globetrotter 90’ was one such initiative by the famous Italian marque that showed the world how much Ducati love the challenge of such an epic ride. Their approach, too, was quite an interesting one. Ducati conducted a competition before the commencement of the ride and selected seven lucky riders from all corners of the world who were to ride a spanking new Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro round the world.
The ride was flagged off on 4 July 2016, exactly 90 years after Antonio Cavalieri Ducati and his sons — Adriano, Marcello, and Bruno Cavalieri Ducati — founded the company. It was a proud day for everyone at Ducati and also a day of honour for Indians as Vir Nakai, a hardcore motorcyclist from India who runs Helmet Stories and a few other businesses, kick-started the ride from Ducati’s home town of Borgo Panigale in Bologna, Italy.
