Which Offers Better Fuel Economy?

Bike India - - TECHNOMAIL -

I have a query regarding Royal Enfield’s 500-cc motorcycles. Royal Enfield, the retro bike manufacturers, sell their 500-cc bikes in carburetted as well as fuel-injected versions in the guise of the STD Bullet 500 and the Classic 500 and Thunderbird 500 respectively. I want to know which of the two offers an overall smooth riding experience in terms of top speed, acceleration and a ride free from vibrations. In addition, which of these two offers better fuel economy? Mohammed Rafiq, Lucknow

Before going into the details we would recommend that you test-ride both the bikes and see for yourself which one is smoother. So far as maintenance is concerned, the carburetted bike will be easier to maintain. The FI needs more attention in terms of maintenance but it is also more fuel-efficient than the carburetted version.
