Team India Dominate
Fortune turned in Team India’s favour for the final round of the Asian Cup of Road Racing (ACRR)
FANS WERE IN FOR A treat because, in addition to regional talent and superbikes, some international level riders had also descended at the Buddh international Circuit (BiC) for the final round of the 21st JK tyre fMsCi national Racing Championship. the riders in question were the participants of the fédération internationale de Motocyclisme (fiM) asian Cup of Road Racing (aCRR). Both the Gixxer Cup and aCRR racers took off from the same grid and it was a treat to watch.
the fiM aCRR comprises young riders from different asian countries like Japan, thailand, sri lanka, the Philippines, nepal, taiwan, and india. Representing india were ann Jennifer, Karthik Mateti, Malsawmdawngliana, and shruthi nagarajan.
starting from the fifth row, Karthik Mateti timed his attacks brilliantly and was soon at the head of the pack. he played that advantage to his benefit throughout the course of this eight-lap race and crossed the line in first place. One second later, hansika abeysinghe shot past the chequered flag to claim second place. surprisingly, third-placed Max stauffer crossed the line a little over 12 seconds after the race leader.
the second outing also spelt victory for india when Malsawmdawngliana crowned a brilliant ride with a resounding victory. he managed to beat Max to the line by one-tenth of a second. hansika finished in a lonely third place, almost four seconds after the race winner.
at the end of the race weekend, the indian team had had a great outing by winning both races, thus ending the 2018 championship on a high note. while team Japan took home the championship, our racers finished in a commendable third place.
