Fortune turned in Team India’s favour for the final round of the Asian Cup of Road Racing (ACRR)

FANS WERE IN FOR A treat because, in addition to regional talent and superbikes, some internatio­nal level riders had also descended at the Buddh internatio­nal Circuit (BiC) for the final round of the 21st JK tyre fMsCi national Racing Championsh­ip. the riders in question were the participan­ts of the fédération internatio­nale de Motocyclis­me (fiM) asian Cup of Road Racing (aCRR). Both the Gixxer Cup and aCRR racers took off from the same grid and it was a treat to watch.

the fiM aCRR comprises young riders from different asian countries like Japan, thailand, sri lanka, the Philippine­s, nepal, taiwan, and india. Representi­ng india were ann Jennifer, Karthik Mateti, Malsawmdaw­ngliana, and shruthi nagarajan.

Race One

starting from the fifth row, Karthik Mateti timed his attacks brilliantl­y and was soon at the head of the pack. he played that advantage to his benefit throughout the course of this eight-lap race and crossed the line in first place. One second later, hansika abeysinghe shot past the chequered flag to claim second place. surprising­ly, third-placed Max stauffer crossed the line a little over 12 seconds after the race leader.

Race Two

the second outing also spelt victory for india when Malsawmdaw­ngliana crowned a brilliant ride with a resounding victory. he managed to beat Max to the line by one-tenth of a second. hansika finished in a lonely third place, almost four seconds after the race winner.

at the end of the race weekend, the indian team had had a great outing by winning both races, thus ending the 2018 championsh­ip on a high note. while team Japan took home the championsh­ip, our racers finished in a commendabl­e third place.
