ATSUSHI OGATA, President, CEO and Managing Director, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI)

Atsushi Ogata has been recently appointed as the President, CEO and Managing Director of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI). He is also an Operating Executive at Honda Motor Co, Japan. Since taking over, Ogata has been busy updating and introducing the BS6 versions of the entire HMSI line-up. In fact, in spite of the challenging market situation and the pandemic, the company announced that their cumulative BS6 two-wheeler sales have crossed the 11-lakh mark.

Honda also have big plans for the premium motorcycle segment under the Big Wing line of business, and are aiming to introduce close to 13 big bikes in India, including five all-new models. The first of those are the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and Fireblade SP. Bookings are already open and they are expected to reach showrooms by September this year.

Born in 1962, Ogata started his career at Honda in Japan back in 1985 and, gradually, climbed up the hierarchy becoming the General Manager of the Motorcycle Sales Division in Honda Motor Europe in 2000. With his rich experience of 35 years at Honda, Ogata will hopefully steer the Japanese major to new heights.
