VENU SRINIVASAN, Chairman and Managing Director, TVS Motor Limited
Venu Srinivasan is at the helm of one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers ― TVS Motor Company. His passion for this field led him to work as a mechanic during his youth and he used that momentum to pursue higher studies and graduated as an engineer from the University of Madras. After that, he went abroad to secure a degree in management from the Purdue University in the US.
Srinivasan returned to India and worked for Sundaram Clayton Ltd before TVS Motor. His initial challenges at TVS included labour issues and a strained relationship with Suzuki. He resolved those issues and even managed to improve the company’s fortunes. TVS are now the benchmark for motorcycle racing in the country and they were also among the first to make the transition to BS6. While the competition was trying to soften the blow of the coronavirus lockdown, TVS made the headlines by buying out a struggling Norton Motorcycles.
