Joaquim rodriguez, also known as “Jrod”, has been the principal man for hero MotoSports team rally this year. he rode at a consistent pace throughout the 12 stages of the rally to finish in 11th place (p11) in the overall standings. this top-15 finish makes it his second-best performance after a p10 finish in the 2017 Dakar rally. his journey started off in p22, after which he was able to start climbing up the ladder in the next few stages. In Stage 4, he managed to finish in a very impressive and personal best p6, placing him at p16 in the overall standings.

he did face a lot of struggle in Stage 5 where he suffered a minor crash in one of the riverbeds that was full of rocks and a few screws from his navigation tower came off loose. he had to then fix the bike himself, after which he decided to take it easy and bring the bike and him back at the bivouac safely. after a much-needed rest day following Stage 6, he put on another good show, finishing the stage in p9. towards the end in Stage 10, the hero MotoSports team rally achieved six top-10 stage finishes, out of which Jrod had four. an unfortunate run at the end of Stage 11 meant that he was handed a time penalty, but was still at p11 in the overall standings. We congratulate him on being the best performing rider from the team and hope to see him improve with time.
