Bavarian superbike now gets M Power!
BMW MOTORRAD’S FLAGSHIP SUPERBIKE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED in India, and it can be yours for Rs 42 lakh for the Standard variant and Rs 45 lakh for the Competition variant (both prices ex-showroom).
The M 1000 RR is based on the S 1000 RR, but with several differences to make it faster, lighter, and sharper. It gets the fetching M sport colours and can be immediately told apart from the S 1000 RR with those carbon-fibre winglets that can create up to 16.3 kilograms of downforce at 299 km/h.
The BMW M 1000 RR is powered by a 999-cc in-line four motor that makes 113 Nm of twist at 11,000 rpm and 212 hp at an astronomical 14,500 rpm. Compared to the S 1000 RR, this motor gets lighter forged pistons and titanium connecting rods, while reworked rocker arms, revised intake port geometry, and titanium exhaust valves help it breathe better. BMW Motorrad claim a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 306 km/h.
Other changes include revisions to the chassis geometry with a more aggressive rake and shortened trail, and a different swingarm to increase wheelbase from 1,441 millimetres to 1,457 mm. The M 1000 RR also gets a full suite of rider aids, including five riding modes, two-way quickshifter, launch control, hill start assist, pit-lane speed limiter, and more.
