300-cc Harley Davidson Roadster Spied
RUMORS STATE THAT THERE IS A NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON 300-CC ROADSTER being developed in partnership with Qianjiang Motorcycle of China, and will make its debut in India as early as next year under the new Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson partnership. If and when launched in India, it will go up against bikes such as the Benelli Imperiale 400, Jawa, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, and the Classic 350. This 300-cc Roadster will be the lowest capacity bike with a Harley-Davidson badge, but will most likely be called the QJMotor SRV300 in China.
A few spy images that have recently surfaced on Chinese website www.newmotor.com.cn give us a glimpse at the bike and, as we can see, it takes its design cues from bigger Harley-Davidson motorcycles, more specifically the Iron 833. The handlebar, mirrors, engine, and alloy wheels have been coated with a black shade giving the motorcycle a premium look. Keeping up with the new age, the Harley-Davidson Roadster 300 is expected to come with an all-LED lighting system and a TFT instrument display cluster with Bluetooth connectivity for navigation assist.
Powering the Harley-Davidson Roadster 300 will be a new purpose-built 296-cc, water-cooled, overhead-cam V-twin engine which will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is rumored to produce 30 hp, giving the bike a top speed of approximately 130 km/h and quite a bit of low-end torque owing to the V-twin configuration.
