We look back at what young rider number 50, Jason Dupasquier, brought to the world of motorcycle racing

The racing world lost a promising young rider, Jason Dupasquier, on a sad afternoon at one of the most highly anticipated events in the MotoGP calendar. Joshua Varghese takes a look at this talented racer’s short but bright career

Jason Dupasquier was born in bulle, switzerlanD, in 2001 and was just 19 years old when the crash in Mugello claimed his life. this promising youngster was the son of former motocross rider, phillipe Dupasquier.

Jason began his career in the supermoto category and won the swiss national Championship multiple times before making a successful switch to circuit racing. in 2016, he won the aDaC neC Championship Moto3 crown and then moved to the Junior world Championship (JwC) for 2017. although it looked like a promising year that would catapult him into the 2018 rookies Cup, a crash in the second round of the JwC made him miss the 2018 season entirely. post recovery, Jason made a comeback in the 2019 season of the rookies Cup and finished eighth overall with a best result of a fourth place at Jerez.

these statistics earned him a place in the 2020 Moto3 squad of CarXpert pruestelGp. in his first season at the global level, Jason had 15 race starts but he ended the season without scoring points. in the 2021 season, the youngster showed great promise by racking up as many as 27 points over five rounds.

Jason’s death was untimely and we join the racing community and fans in mourning his loss. our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
