Hero’s popular two-wheelers get a modern twist

-

THE HERO GLAMOUR XTEC IS THE most modern variation of the Glamour yet and it comes loaded with features that are in demand for the new-age rider. In terms of connectivity options, the Xtec is the top-spec motorcycle in its category and has introduced some revolutionary features to the segment. Before we write about the motorcycle’s technology highlights, some attention must be given to the latest styling elements. The new Glamour features a refreshed front end that is dominated by an LED headlamp. The motorcycle’s strong lines then flow back to the muscular fuel-tank, complementing its popular character. Furthermore, Hero have also introduced new split alloy wheels and they go rather well with the overall design of the Glamour Xtec. The Xtec’s party pieces begin at the instrument console. Now the rider gets all the information they need from a fully digital console that boasts of a revamped take on the typical instruments that include a speedometer and a fuel gauge. The inclusion of a clock is another useful addition that will prove particularly useful to everyday city commuters. The best part is that the console is Bluetooth-compatible (a first-in-segment feature) as well. Once paired to a smartphone, the Glamour Xtec is capable of supporting turn-by-turn navigation. This window is integrated into the instrument console and relays crisp and precise information from your smartphone. This is one feature that will prove to be crucial especially for new riders and those who have moved to a new city. Additionally, the Xtec is also equipped with side-stand engine cut-off and a bank angle sensor. So, maybe, you have had a long day and all the navigation has drained the phone’s battery. What now? Thankfully, Hero have given it some thought as well and equipped the Glamour Xtec with a built-in mobile charger.

The Hero Glamour Xtec will draw power from a 124.7-cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that develops 10.8 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 10.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Gear-shifts are handled by a five-speed transmission and Hero claim that their AutoSail technology will significantly improve the motorcycle’s traffic-handling prowess, making it a breeze to ride on congested roads. Another vital change in the mechanical department is the new longer-travel telescopic fork that should improve the motorcycle’s ride quality over poor surfaces. All of this could be yours for Rs 78,900 for the drum brake variant and Rs 83,500 for the disc brake model (both prices ex-showroom).
