TVS-owned Norton Reveal New Café Racer
Norton reveal an exotic, new café racer prototype for the first time since the take-over of this British motorcycle brand by TVS Motor Company
SINCE THE TIME INDIAN AUTO MAJOR, TVS MOTOR Company, acquired the iconic British motorcycle marque, Norton Motorcycle, we’ve been waiting with bated breath to see what they pull out of their hat. Finally, the company has taken the wraps off an entirely new prototype called the V4 Café Racer, based on the Norton V4SV. Since it’s been termed as a prototype, we may expect the V4CR to make it to production soon.
Even the new model is expected to be hand-built and it will carry a sizeable price tag. Although both the bikes share a common platform, the café racer will have a shorter subframe and, true to its character, will have a more focused riding stance than the super naked. Like its sibling, the 185-hp, 1,200-cc V4 will power the new model and, according to sources, the mill has been further improved with a view to resolving all its earlier shortcomings.
The V4 Café Racer is one of the many new models that will be rolling out of Norton’s new headquarters at Solihull, United Kingdom. Will TVS Motor bring a handful of those exotic machines to India? We can barely contain our excitement.
