BSA Gold Star 650

-

A star is reborn, quite literally. This is BSA’s modern take on the original Gold Star from the 1960s. The styling of the new BSA has been executed by the UK-based Redline Studios and it clearly pays tribute to the original Gold Star, hoping to ignite nostalgia among enthusiasts and classic bike lovers. British engineering specialists Ricardo have played a key role in the development of the double-cradle frame and in fine-tuning the ride and handling characteristics. To get the desired stance, the Gold Star comes with an 18-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel. Modern bits include Pirelli tyres and disc brakes at both ends along with ABS. Interestingly, it gets a Rotax-sourced 652-cc single-cylinder four-valve, DOHC set-up and liquid-cooling and the drive chain is on the right side of the motorcycle. We won’t be surprised if it belongs to the same family that powered the BMW F650 Funduro from the late 1990s, which were also engineered by the Austrian firm. On the Gold Star, the large single makes 45 hp and 55 Nm of torque. We may expect to see the Gold Star in showrooms by April 2022; however, it will be interesting to see if Classic Legends position this single-cylinder British marque over the Royal Enfield 650 Twins.
