Yamaha YZF-R9

-

We’re still trying to wrap our heads around this one, but Yamaha have registered the YZF-R9 name in India, though the company doesn’t have the said model even in the global markets. Since the name has also been registered in Europe, we feel that Yamaha will be unveiling the model pretty soon. Just like the YZF-R7, which is based on the MT-07, the upcoming YZF-R9 might use the MT-09 platform. If so, the bike should come with an 890-cc, liquidcooled, triple-cylinder engine which may churn out close to 119 hp with a peak torque of 93 Nm. The sportier R9 could come with top-shelf parts like fully adjustable suspension, six-axis IMU, and slide control system. It’s likely to carry forward Yamaha’s new “R” design philosophy of which we got a taste on the recently launched R15 version 4.0 and even the R7. This sure is exciting news for Yamaha fans and we can’t wait to find out more once the global premier takes place later this year.
