DCGI approves Truenat diagnostic kit for Nipah

Truenat, an innovative point of care RealTime PCR platform manufactur­ed by Goabased Molbio Diagnostic­s, has received Emergency Use Authorisat­ion by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for their Nipah test. This is the first kit in India to receive regulatory approval to conduct tests for Nipah. Truenat is an indigenous portable, battery-operated and IoTenabled point of care RT-PCR platform. Leveraging the large footprint of Truenat machines deployed across the country for diagnosis of infectious diseases such as TB, COVID-19, Hepatitis, etc., testing for Nipah Virus can now be performed rapidly, on-demand and closer to the affected people, resulting in early and fast diagnosis for effective management of the disease and containmen­t of the spread of the virus.
