HMD achieves production capacity of over 1 Bn AD syringes

Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd (HMD), New Delhi-based manufactur­er of disposable and auto disable (AD) syringes has achieved the target committed to create capacities to produce over 1 billion AD syringes for COVID-19 vaccinatio­n per year to support the massive vaccinatio­n campaign to eradicate the disease and help make India Atmanirbha­r. It has also achieved the milestone of producing over 1 crore pieces of assorted size of syringes daily. Last year in December, HMD had already dispatched 14 crore AD syringes to the COVAX stockpile facility created in anticipati­on of supporting a global worldwide vaccinatio­n drive. At HMD, the machines crank out more than 4.2 lakh syringes of various types per hour at the factories spread over 11 acres in Faridabad industrial district in Haryana. HMD has the capacity to produce over 250 crore assorted syringes of various types and sizes per year. The company is investing over Rs 100 crore from its own resources, to scale this up to 300 crore and more.
