Medtronic brings cryoballoon catheter for AF treatment in India
India Medtronic has announced the launch of Arctic Front Cardiac Cryoablation Catheter System, the first and only cryoballoon catheter approved by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) for treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) in India. The first procedure in India using the Arctic Front Cardiac Cryoablation Catheter System has been successfully performed at Pan Max Hospital Saket, Delhi. Cryoballoon catheter ablation, a minimally invasive procedure, is one of the therapeutic modalities to manage AF. The Medtronic cryoballoon catheter was developed specifically to achieve pulmonary vein isolation. This innovative technique has been used to treat more than 1,000,000 patients in more than 80 countries with robust safety and effectiveness evidence in more than 1200 peer-reviewed articles.
