LFC Foundation to launch Malawi HIV awareness project

BioSpectrum (Asia) - - World News -

LFC Foundation and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) have launched a joint programme to encourage youngsters in Malawi to access education and health services designed to help in the fight against HIV. In Malawi, the number of people living with HIV is one of the highest in the world; young people account for 50 per cent of new infections, and incidences are highest among 15 to 17-yearolds. Knowledge around prevention and transmission of disease is essential among young people who often have low levels of awareness and are therefore more likely to contract it or be living with it unknowingly. The new joint project will deliver sports-based public engagement activities in Malawi to provide more youthfriendly platforms for young people to access a range of available health services and education about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
