Egypt health­care startup raises $12M

Egypt based dig­i­tal health startup, Vezeeta, re­cently an­nounced a Se­ries C in­vest­ment of $12 mil­lion led by Saudi Tech­nol­ogy Ven­tures, the largest VC fund in the re­gion. Join­ing the round are ex­ist­ing in­vestors: BECO Cap­i­tal (UAE), Vos­tok New Ven­tures (Swe­den) and Sil­i­con Ba­dia (Jor­dan), along with new in­vestor Cres­cent En­ter­prises’ CE-Ven­tures (UAE). Ac­cord­ing to the startup, the fi­nanc­ing will be used to fund its con­tin­ued ex­pan­sion pri­mar­ily in Saudi Ara­bia and for fur­ther in­vest­ments in key new prod­ucts. Vezeeta con­nects pa­tients and doc­tors through an on­line plat­form. It also pro­vides SaaS (Soft­ware as a ser­vice) so­lu­tions that uti­lize cloud com­put­ing and big data to em­power doc­tors, build­ing the in­fra­struc­ture for the de­vel­op­ment of the broader health­care ecosys­tem.
