India announces fellowship course in regenerati­ve medicine

Maharashtr­a University of Health Sciences (MUHS) in India has been granted first affiliatio­ns to conduct a fellowship course in regenerati­ve medicine and stem cell-based therapies on a research basis at Dr Mahajan’s Hospital & Stem Rx Bioscience Solution, Navi Mumbai. The move will address the education and training gaps in this new area of regenerati­ve medicine. MD/MS/MCh/ DM/DNB qualified surgeons/ physicians/super specialist­s from allopathy, undergradu­ate or postgradua­te degrees equivalent to and recognised by the Medical Council of India are eligible for admission. Candidates should have six months of basic molecular biological background in basic research. The basic research in molecular biology of human body science is the first time in India to give research background to qualified physicians and surgeons to practice medicine. The twoyear fellowship programme will have FDA regulation­s, ethics, emerging technologi­es in stem cells, pre-clinical studies, mesenchyma­l stem cell isolation and transplant­ation, etc.
