Peru, Brazil to mutually strengthen and improve health services
The President of the Republic of Peru, Pedro Castillo, and his Brazilian counterpart,
Jair Bolsonaro, have signed health agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation between the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) and the Ministry of Health of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The agreement implies a series of joint actions to strengthen the health services provided by both countries. EsSalud and the Brazilian Ministry of Health will exchange information on the social health security policy; decentralisation of health management; medicine policy and the functioning of information systems at health facilities; as well as financial regulation of health services and human resource training in health. In addition, they will share knowledge about primary health care; prevention and treatment of cancer; as well as training of health professionals who perform organ, tissue and cell transplantation.
