APPA selects Dr Santosh Soans for Asian award
Mangaluru based paediatrician Santosh
Soans has been selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious “Outstanding Asian Paediatrician Award 2018” instituted by the
Asia Pacific Paediatric Association (APPA). The award is being given in recognition of the recipients’ outstanding contribution to the field of paediatrics. Along with India, Asia Pacific Paediatric Association has 26 countries, including Australia, Japan, China,
New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Dr Soans, who is national president of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, is the third Indian so far to receive the award. The award will be given on August 28 at Peninsula Island in Nusa Dua-Bali, Indonesia. A native of Kundapur, Dr Soans is an alumnus of Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru and Manipal. He is now serving AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangaluru, as Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics.
