DC Samba chairs border security assessment meeting

SAMBA, MAY 21: Deputy Commission­er, Samba, Abhishek Sharma on Tuesday chaired the border security meeting held here in the Conference Hall DC offi ce to discuss the issues faced by Security forces and the general public near the Internatio­nal Border.

At the outset, the DC appreciate­d the efforts put in by offi cers/ offi cials from civil administra­tion and security forces to facilitate voters during the recent Lok Sabha Elections, 2024, resulting in high turnout.

The meeting discussed the issues related to the ongoing and proposed projects of the Irrigation and Flood Control department and Rural Developmen­t department near IB.

The DC emphasized that the permission­s should be timely granted to the farmers for cultivatio­n beyond fence, identify dairies for collection of fodder, installati­on of portable toilets and maintenanc­e of the record of permission­s granted to farmers & visitors, labour verifi cation, rental verifi cations and also verifi cation of vehicles frequently visiting to these areas.

Stress was laid on the promotion of Nanga Wetland reserves having huge potential for tourism promotion for being an abode to diverse species of birds coming from different corners of the world. He directed the Wildlife warden to install camera traps for recording animal migration.

Furthermor­e, he directed to spread awareness among farmers regarding reward schemes in case of detecting the movement of any drone or locating any tunnel near border areas.

Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP Samba, Vinay Kumar, ADC Samba, Suresh Sharma, representa­tives from BSF including 2IC and Deputy Commandant, ACR Samba, Kusum Chib, SDM Gaghwal, SDM Vijaypur and other district offi cers.
