S P Jain Dubai, in Association with Supply Chain And Logistics Group (SCLG), Organizes a Conference on “Technology Trends in Supply Chain Management”
The Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) is a pre-eminent professional body in the Middle East that supports and promotes the cause of the Logistics and the Supply Chain Industry. It works with governments, logistics and supply chain professionals, educational institutions and member organizations to establish a forum to share best practices, information and knowledge about the industry. S P Jain School of Global Management, Dubai has been closely associated with SCLG and has jointly organized well received forums and industry events in the past. The much anticipated second S P Jain-SCLG Forum was held at the S P Jain School of Global Management, Dubai on the evening of Wednesday, 15th of February 2012. The theme for the evening event was “Technology trends in Supply Chain Management”. One of the highlights of the event was the presentation by Dr. Rajiv Aserkar, Professor, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, S P Jain School of Global Management, on the findings of the research carried out by him and his team on the role of technology in Logistics and Supply Chain, the uniqueness of the UAE market in terms of technology usage, attitude towards the adoption of new technology, technology spend and technology trends. Mr. Ashraf Nashaat from Oracle gave an industry keynote address on the impact of Supply Chain software solutions on the productivity and efficiency of the related processes and improving visibility. Following the keynote address was a panel discussion on Technology Trends in Logistics and Supply Chain Management that was moderated by Mr. Ravi Subramanyam, Managing Director, LaunchPad International and Vice President at SCLG. The eminent panelists included Mr. Dinesh Mohan, General Manager, SAP Projects, RAK Ceramics, Mr. Sean Bradley, Managing Director, Revere Middle East, Mr. Soma Sekhar, CEO, Track IT and Mr. Muthanna Muckatira, General Manager, Ehrhardt + Partner Solutions. The panel discussion ended with a question and answer session where the participants could ask the panelists their views on specific topics. Mr. Kevin Abdulrahman, a well known motivational speaker, concluded the proceedings of the day with an interesting session - “Speaking to Impact”. The dinner that followed the event gave an opportunity to the students of S P Jain to interact and network with the distinguished delegates and S P Jain Alumni from all over UAE. Many from the cohort are carrying out research projects on technology based concepts and have carried away rare but relevant expert insights from the event. An even larger takeaway for the students is the understanding and appreciation they developed during their interactions – about the nature of doing business in the United Arab Emirates and the path that their industry is taking today and is poised to take in the future. The Challenge is a platform to showcase innovation and creativity to promote progressive HR to students. The theme for Singapore HR Challenge 2012 was HR 2020: HR Capabilities for Business Sustainability. Into its fifth year, the Singapore HR Challenge 2012 serves to engage future leaders, people managers, critical thinkers, and contributors of the new workforce. This year, it offered more mind-challenging Human Resource (HR) issues at the workplace, and required participants to brainstorm strategies and present on what HR challenges organizations would face by 2020, and how they can work towards achieving success and sustainability for their businesses.
